The funicular (cable railway) is a favourite tourist attraction and a convenient way to visit the observation tower, mirror maze or gardens of Petřín, but is also used by students to access the Strahov dormitories.

You can get to Újezd base station by trams 9, 12, 15, 20, 22 and 23. The funicular departs every 15 minutes between November and March and 10 minutes otherwise. See the current timetable. Every spring and autumn there is a three-week maintenance break.

The funicular is not wheelchair accessible.

Stops on the funicular Újezd – Petřín

The funicular has three stops: Újezd, Nebozízek and Petřín. Újezd offers transfer to trams.

Fare

A special fare applies for the funicular: 60 Kč per one ride. There are no discounted tickets.

What can you see at the top

Petřín observation tower width=

During the ride, enjoy the breathtaking views of Prague. On the top of the hill, you can visit the Petřín observation tower. A mirror maze can be entered at the base of the tower. There is a large park and countless gardens on the Petřín slope, where you can discover various romantic corners or continue by walking to Prague castle. The side of the hill is defended by the Hunger wall built by the Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV. The Štefánik observatory is open for those interested in the beauties of sky and space.
